Electricity Generation from Renewable Energy
Electricity generation from renewable energy systems connected to the distribution or transmission system is the production of electricity from such sources. The Authority grants licenses to individuals and companies according to the applicable laws, regulations, and instructions, and supervises the licensees. The Authority oversees and regulates the process of electricity generation using renewable energy sources by issuing the instructions and regulations governing the generation process from renewable energy systems and applying the applicable laws and regulations.
Net Metering (NPS)
Net metering is the system used for measuring the electricity generated from renewable energy systems for consumption purposes. It is a meter that can measure electricity in both directions. When the consumer draws electricity from the grid, the reading is positive, and when the consumer feeds electricity into the grid, the reading is negative. The generated electricity is subtracted from the used amount at the end of the month to calculate the net consumption and issue the bill.
The Authority has issued instructions regulating the sale of electricity from renewable energy systems under Article (10-b) of the Renewable Energy Law.
Crossing (Exporting Energy)
The Authority has issued instructions regulating the export of electricity generated from renewable energy systems for consumption purposes, enabling service recipients to benefit from renewable energy sources to cover their consumption bills without the need to install the renewable energy system at the same location as the consumption.
Licensing
A license for generating electricity using renewable energy systems is the permission granted by the Authority to a licensed company to generate energy from renewable energy systems. The Authority licenses renewable energy projects with capacities exceeding 1 MW according to the provisions of Article (7) of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Law No. 13 of 2012, and based on the provisions of Article 28 of the Temporary Electricity Law No. 64 of 2002. The Authority has granted many licenses to renewable energy companies and projects according to the direct bidding system, net metering, or energy crossing for private consumption.

Research
The Authority implements inspection programs for all regulated activities to ensure the compliance of licensees with the law, applicable regulations, and any other conditions outlined in the licensing requirements, aiming to achieve the following objectives:
Identifying lessons learned in the energy sector and applying them as necessary.
Ensuring that the facility, equipment, and performance meet all applicable requirements.
Identifying violations and deficiencies and correcting or justifying them without delay.
Ensuring compliance with the provisions in the documents and instructions.
Ensuring that individuals working with the operator (including contractors) possess the necessary competence to perform their tasks effectively.
In case of violations or failure to apply the applicable requirements, the Authority is authorized to take enforcement actions against the licensee, such as imposing fines.
