Ensuring the Authority's Readiness for Emergencies
EMRC monitors reports of incidents involving nuclear materials or radioactive sources and coordinates with relevant entities to implement responses to nuclear and radiological emergencies. Its role includes mitigating the consequences of such incidents if they occur and assisting in the return to normal conditions following the conclusion of the emergency.
EMRC responsibilities also involve reviewing emergency plans for all nuclear and radiological facilities, monitoring their implementation, and taking necessary actions in the event of any nuclear or radiological incidents.
EMRC has issued regulations for preparedness and readiness for radiological and nuclear incidents both on-site and off-site. It grants necessary licenses based on the review of emergency plans, participates in updating and improving these plans, and conducts practical drills to ensure the plans' quality and applicability in the event of a nuclear or radiological incident.
