Nuclear Work

Nuclear Security

We adhere to international nuclear security standards to maintain Jordan's safety.

EMRC works to enhance preparations, exchange information, and engage in nuclear security activities with advanced countries in this field to ensure the physical protection of nuclear facilities and materials in Jordan. This is achieved through the implementation of the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material, based on international strategies for monitoring nuclear materials established by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and by fostering a culture of nuclear security.

EMRC also ensures that operators of nuclear facilities and users of nuclear materials comply with nuclear security requirements in accordance with the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material and related international standards. It takes necessary measures to prevent nuclear incidents. Additionally, the department’s responsibilities include monitoring and taking preemptive actions to prevent nuclear or radiological incidents.
