Nuclear safeguards
safeguards

EMRC is responsible for implementing nuclear safeguards in the Kingdom and providing the required information to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in compliance with the Kingdom's commitments under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement, and the Additional Protocol to the signed agreement.

This includes facilitating access to facilities and establishments subject to the nuclear safeguards program and accompanying IAEA safeguards inspectors within the Kingdom, as well as establishing and maintaining a system for the accounting and inventory of nuclear materials.

EMRC places regulations, instructions, and oversight as its top priorities. It collects information related to the accounting and monitoring of nuclear materials and conducts inspections of facilities and materials subject to safeguards within the Kingdom.

Oversight of Import and Export

We develop licensing requirements and instructions in collaboration with relevant government entities to enhance control over the import, export, transit, and transshipment of all types of nuclear materials and items related to the nuclear field.
